Janis McDowell Hadnott

Mrs. Hadnott is a 1957 Music Education graduate of Prairie View A&M University and did post graduate work in Opera Study at Texas Southern University.  She was a teacher for the Livingston High School in Polk County and Sweeny High School in Sweeny, Texas from 1957 until 1968.

Mrs. Janis Hadnott was president of the San Antonio chapter of PVAMU Alumni Association for 4 years.  During her tenure she focused on increasing endowments while expanding the chapter membership and national involvement.  Mrs. Hadnott served her community as President of both the C.A. Whittier Medical Auxiliary and the National Medical Association Auxiliary (Washington, D.C.) and Board Chair for the National Medical Association Auxiliary Annual Conference.  In addition she was a Board Member of the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio; San Antonio Carver Cultural Center; San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee; Arts! San Antonio-City Arts Council; St. Luke’s Episcopal School Board; the Community Council for Christians & Jews and was the J.C. Penney Woman of the Year.

She and her husband, the late William H. Hadnott, Jr., M.D., have 4 children, Wanna H. Hadnott, Wynette H. Hadnott Keller (Larry), Marjorie Laverne Hadnott and William H. Hadnott, III, M.D. (Nicole) and 2 grandchildren, William Harrison Hadnott and Leah Michelle Hadnott.

In her free time Mrs. Hadnott enjoys tennis, Spurs basketball, choral and theatre arts and is active in the Asbury United Methodist Church where she is the Organist and Choral Director.
