Samuel J. Coleman (Sam) is the Deputy Regional Administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency, South Central Region. He is a 1977 graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas. Sam began his career in 1977 as a civilian employee of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Worth, TX, where he acquired over 12 years of experience managing complex military construction and civil works projects in Texas and in in South Korea. Sam began his career in environmental protection in 1989 when he joined the EPA in Dallas during his tenure he has worked at both the regional and headquarter levels. He has been with EPA over 26 years and has worked on several high profile projects. Mr. Coleman was appointed to the Senior Executive Service by Administrator Carol Browner in 1995. He was awarded with a Presidential Rank Award by President Barrack Obama in 2009 for his meritorious Service. .
Sam is a native of Shreveport LA., and currently lives in Cedar Hill, Texas. He has been married for 38 years to the former Esther M. Foster (PV BSCE 1977) of Houston, TX. They have two children Meredith and Zachary, and one granddaughter, Vivian. Sam is very active in his church where he works to prepare high school students for college and life’s challenges.
