While engaged as Cabinet Members for the PVAMU Capital Campaign, the cabinet was limited in solicitations on behalf of the university from 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities and various grant organizations. They determined that a 501(c)(3) Foundation would be better equipped to approach a greater donor pool that only accepted applications from tax-exempted entities.
