Christopher Houston

Christopher Houston is originally from the Piney Woods of East Texas.  He has worked domestically and abroad internationally and has been a resident of the Greater Houston Area since 2004.     He graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering (mathematics minor).  Additionally, he holds a Project Management Certification from the University of Manchester (UK) which he earned in 2013.


Christopher began his professional career with Texaco in 1997, supporting Upstream Global Offshore Engineering, and in 2002, he transitioned into private engineering consulting supporting projects within the Greenfield International Upstream Segment around the world.  His international work experiences include working in Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, & South China, supporting clients such as ExxonMobil, Heerma, and Aker Solutions (formerly Kvaerner).


Over the course of his career, Christopher has held a variety of engineering positions supporting operations and projects, and in 2007 he joined British Petroleum (bp) as a Project Manager within the Gulf of Mexico Offshore Operation business unit.  In this position, he has managed a variety of brownfield projects, ranging in excess of ~$30M gross total installed cost with an annual portfolio spend of ~$50M gross. Most recently, Christopher now serves as the Appraise Manager with oversight over the Western Hemisphere which includes Angola, Gulf of Mexico (USA), Trinidad & the North Sea (UK). In this position, he provides assurance around front-end loading (appraise-select) for a portfolio of brownfield projects with a combined regional annual spend of ~$220M gross.

Christopher is also actively involved with a variety of non-profits.  He is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo where he serves on a variety of committees. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Thomas H. Routt Foundation. He continues to be active on the campus of PVAMU, assisting with the Chemical Engineering Advisory Council, and leads the bp campus engagement team championing the relationship.


He is an active member with a variety of civic and fraternal organizations, ranging from Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. (life member), Prince Hall Freemasonry & Shriners as well as a host of other organizations where he has held a variety of leadership positions and received multiple awards.


In his spare and leisure time, he enjoys working within the community performing outreach and when time permits, he is an avid swimmer and fisherman.
