Carl Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University in 1979.  He has completed additional educational programs in Executive Development, Leadership Strategies, Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing and Business Marketing Strategies from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.


After graduation, Mr. Johnson began his career as a maintenance engineer with Union Carbide.  In 1984 he moved to Monsanto Company


where he held supervisory positions in Process, Utilities and Manufacturing, subsequently moving to management positions in Manufacturing and Customer Operations.  Carl moved to PPG Industries in Barberton, Ohio in 1998 to take the position of Plant manager where he was responsible for all functions of chemical plant operations. He continues today at PPG Industries in Delaware, Ohio as the Director, North America Manufacturing for the Automotive Refinish Business Unit.  This unit accounts for more than $700 million in total revenue in North America.

He has served as member of the Chemical Group Manufacturing Council and a member of global Business Leadership Teams.  Mr. Johnson currently participates in the North America Business Leadership Team, is a member of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Team and the Corporate Process Safety Leadership Team. His civic involvement includes membership on the Board of Directors for Recreation Unlimited, Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, and Franklin University where he serves as Board Secretary.  He also serves as a member of the Delaware City Tax Incentive Review Committee.


Carl and his college sweetheart, Mary, a Civil Engineering graduate of Prairie View A&M University met as undergraduates in 1975 and have been married for 35 years. They now reside in Westerville, OH.
