Our

The mission of the Prairie View A&M Foundation is to maximize the effectiveness of contributions to support future excellence in education, research, service and athletics at Prairie View A&M University.

The vision of the Prairie View A&M Foundation is to develop a culture of philanthropy to meet resource needs of Prairie View A&M University in its pursuit of excellence in education, research, athletics and outreach.

History of the PVAMF

The Prairie View A&M Foundation was established June 2009 to support a continuing legacy of excellence at Prairie View A&M University.

During the University’s Extend The View: Shape Tomorrow, Today Capital Campaign (ended in 2009) there were 25 dedicated alumni and university administrators that served as ambassadors. During this campaign these ambassadors became well acquainted with the obstacles and challenges that the University faced when soliciting funds. These challenges included: grantors/companies who require giving to 501(c)(3) entities; projects not eligible for state funding such as Athletics and increasing endowments for scholarships to attract top students and increasing endowments for chairs to attract top faculty.

As the campaign came to a close, with the support and encouragement of then Prairie View A&M University President, Dr. George C. Wright and VP of Development, Dr. Willie Trotty, there were six (6) committed ambassadors that stepped up. They had a dream and a vision. They wanted to do more to ensure our University rises to the top. That vision was to form a Foundation in support of Prairie View A&M University. With sheer determination and a drive to succeed these sensational six became the founding members of what is now the Prairie View A&M Foundation:

  • Mr. Roy G. Perry
  • Lt. Marvin D. Brailsford
  • Mrs. Nathelyne A. Kennedy
  • Mr. Fred Newhouse
  • Ms. Phyllis Darden-Caldwell
  • Mr. Don Clark

The Foundation to this day is empowered by their commitment to make a difference!
